Up We Go

The BULL-A TON said "Meet with Paul and your fellow riders at Lake Henshaw. Paul will lead us up Polamar Mountain to enjoy lunch at Mother's Kitchen."

Paul wasn't there to organize us so we were more of a gaggle than a group. I was able to gather these riders for a group photo at the start of the ride. There were others ready to ride but unavailable for the photo.

Leaderless, we started to go up. Soon we were passed by a group of riders with a police escort. It turns out today there was an amateur race over the same course as the AMGEN Tour of California the next day.

We were passed by riders all the way to the top.

Finally your photographer reached Mother's Kitchen at the top. Talking to cyclists there, it turns out there were at least three other events besides the Knickerbikers who rode to the top of Mt. Palomar today.

Oh yes. There were plenty of motorcyclists up there too.

The next rider up was Larry ...

... then came Mark, ...

... followed by Karen ...

... then Gene.

Gene was closely followed by Shirley
A group picture at the top

The group at the top decided to skip Mother's Kitchen. It was probably slammed with all the riders, bicycle and motorcycle. The descent was fun, and somewhat faster than the ascent. Somewhere on the descent we met two Pauls on their way to the top.

Thanks for setting up this ride Paul. I'm ready to do it again.
