Saturday, 25 March
Greetings,
Today is the day of the Cinderella Century. It is cold and windy. At the start of the ride there was no rain but thunder showers were promised. The Amerisuites hotel where most of the Knickerbikers stayed was full of Cinderellas.
This group of princesses from Sacramento seemed to have it pretty well together.

The plan for the Knickerbiker princesses was to meet at the hotel at 7:30. Susan and Maddie and I were there on time but in typical Knickerbiker fashion no one else was quite ready.

I snapped a photo of Susan and Maddie while we waited.

Finally Sandra and Mary Ann showed up.

And a few more.

Finally most of the group are ready. The ones missing had already left to start the ride.

The weather wasn't quite as bad as threatened by NOAA. It was bad enough though. There was lots of wind and it was cold. There was rain and even some hail.

I caught up with the the princesses at the last refreshment stop before the ride end.

Fern and Sylvia are leaving. Sorry Fern, you were almost too fast for me.

Mary Ann, Susan and Suzie arrive at the refreshment stop.

Leaving the refreshment stop, refreshed, refueled and relieved.

On the road again. Only 16 more miles to go!!!
Mostly down hill then with the wind at their backs. Whoopee!!
Oh yes, some more rain :-(

An unknown (to me) princess.

At the end of the ride we met our good friend Lynn. We met her when she rode with us in the 1998 Push Bike Tour led by Priscilla in England, Wales & Scotland. We meet Lynn at events like this and at the Great Western Bike Rally. Lynn is an active member of the Valley Spokesmen.

P. S. Remember who it was that started this ride? In case you don't remember, look below.

Which one do you think finished first?

Scroll down.

If you guessed Joan you were correct. The oldest rider finished first. She told me she "... didn't mean to." She said she "... just got separated from the other riders and tried to catch up."
